The Nevada State Democratic Party has exceeded goals to send a diverse slate of delegates to the Democratic National Convention in August. More than half of the state delegates chosen so far are members of minority groups.

State party officials say Nevada was awarded an early presidential caucus position partly because of the state's diversity in a release [1] today. The state will send 34 delegates and 8 super delegates to the convention.

"Nevada is a true test of the West and all of the diversity it encompasses," said Sam Lieberman, chair of the Nevada Democratic Party, who is also a superdelegate with a disability. "We're proud the delegation we will send to Denver represents our population."

The state selected eight African Americans, ten Hispanic Americans, one Asian American, one Native American and four LGBT delegates. Below are the delegates from each group:
